Foot-Loose Couture

A set of shoes during London's Fashion Week 2009, struck my curiosity. Aminaka Wilmont's show revealed some very interesting barefoot shoes with a strapped heel, designed by Eelko Moorer. Turns out not only fashion designers create two sets of fashion lines per season, ready-to-wear and couture, shoe designers also delve into that uber-creative realm.

Now that I have you're attention, check out some of these other oddly shaped, perhaps not the most practical, yet quite possible alternatives to the outfit you have on today.

NY Fashion Week 2009

Early September in NYC is probably the most exciting time for me. Not only is the weather perfect as can be, but Fashion Week is in town!!! It brings me back to when I worked at Bumble and bumble a few years back and helped coordinate shows during this busy season, running around, meeting people and best of all...watching the catwalk and the front seat elites!

I'll try to post as many pre- and post-show photos. The 2009 Spring Collections will run September 5 - 12, so stay tuned for the exciting new designs and celebrity shots.

What Ballroom Dancing Does to Boys...

And I can openly talk about what ballroom dancing does to boys because I used to dance with them. Let's just say the concept of tightness transcends to the body and the clothes that adorn it. However, recent champion of Dancing with the Stars, Joey Lawrence, took it to the next level. From the image bellow, it appears he borrowed his wife's skinny jeans and that's her in the photo almost cracking up at how slightly ridiculous that looks. I'm all for buff men wearing things that will show off their muscles, in fact I encourage my bf to do it, he's got the shoulders for it. But skinny jeans, being all the rage in the Emo world, are just not there yet for masculine strong types in my opinion. Anyone agree?

I had the pleasure of meeting him at the premier of DWTS that season, and he was just one of the sweetest and most sincere guys. But these photos make me wonder just how sweet he is...

TREND.i.e - Prepping Up Olympic Athletes with Polo Ralph Lauren

To improve the image of America and their athletes, Polo Ralph Lauren has been selected to be the official "outfitter" of the US team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, consisting of 1,500 athletes. The previous "outfitter," Canadian apparel company Roots Ltd. appeared too casual for official representation of United States, so they're upping the ante with preppy polos and vest sweaters.
The Wall Street Journal says that "The preppy styles Polo is making for the athletes to wear in the Opening and Closing ceremonies and in the Olympic Village will mark a departure from sporty outfits that the American team has worn in recent years, such as retro ski jackets inspired by vintage Ducati motorcycle ads that were worn in Turin, Italy, in 2006."

If it does prove successful and have a high revenue return, this initiative will be applied to the "Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, in 2010, the Summer Olympics in London in 2012, and beyond."
